Applying for your licence
In order to legally drive a motor vehicle on the road in Jersey, a person must hold a valid
driving licence for the category of vehicle they wish to drive.
To begin with, you will need to obtain a Provisional Driving Licence.
For this you will need:
• To complete an application form (available from your parish hall)
• One passport sized photograph
• Pay licence fee
Please note that a provisional licence is only valid for six months from the date of issue. The driving test (or at least a theory test) must be attempted during the six months’ or the Constable of your parish will normally refuse to issue another provisional licence until six months after the expiry date.
To obtain a Full Driving Licence, you will need to pass both a theory and hazard perception test followed by a practical test.
